Forms and Applications

One of the missions of the Water Patrol is to regulate the uses of the lakes and rivers of the county to assure that the public is not endangered.

The Water Patrol requires permits for some activities, including temporary structures and special events. Rental boat operators must fill out an application and submit their boats for inspection. Charter Boats must also be inspected before they can carry passengers.

The Hennepin Water Patrol issues the permits required for a variety of water related activities. From this page, you can download the forms necessary to apply for Special Event Permits and Temporary Structure Permits and other forms relating to Lake Minnetonka.

Instructions for Downloading Forms and Information

The forms and instruction sheets require Adobe Acrobat Reader to to view. You may also fill the forms out online and print or email them. (Note: Forms that require a signature may not be emailed.)

Adobe Acrobat is installed on most computers, but if it is not, you can download it free from the Adobe Web Site. Click here or the link at left to download.

You can fill out the forms on-line, but you must print them out and sign them for the forms to be valid.

Boat Rental Inspections

If you offer for rent boats, pontoons, canoes or kayaks, your fleet must be inspected before they can be rented. The earlier in the Spring you make your request, the sooner they can be inspected and the sooner you can rent them out.

Boat Clubs must also have their Watercraft inspected.

We will need the following forms:

  • Special Event Instructions and Requirements
