Local Ordinances

Many municipalities have special or more restrictive ordinances. A list of the affected cities and lakes with a summary of these ordinances is included. Use this list as a guide only. The Water Patrol is not responsible for changes, additions or omissions.

Lake Minnetonka Conservation District. This web site contains valuable information specific to Lake Minnetonka in Western Hennepin County. You can find information about ordinances specific to Lake Minnetonka, as well as links to download a variety of publications and applications. You can also download a synopsis of Summer and Winter Rules specific to Lake Minnetonka This site is updated as necessary.

Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. Links to a variety of information about lakes and parks in the entire state of Minnesota as well as the metro area. This site is updated daily. Click here for ice safety recommendations. 

Minnetonka Power Squadron. The Minnetonka Power Squadron is one of about 450 regional squadrons that make up the world's largest private boating organization. The United States Power Squadron® (USPS) is a fellowship organization dedicated to the advancement of safe boating through the self education of its members, public education, and civic service.

US Coast Guard  This page has links to the latest information about navigation in federal waters. Data is primarily for the Mississippi and Minnesota Rivers. The page also has links to other Coast Guard pages including communication procedures and the latest charts. This site is updated daily.
